January 16, 2025:OTPA hosted the 39th Annual Meeting: Pledges Preservation Focus and Approves 2025 Board.
The venue was the Son Light Christian Center, the occasion was OTPA's Annual Membership Meeting, and the theme was preservation.
OTPA President Rob Boice, one of OTPA's original founders, welcomed and pledged that every activity undertaken by OTPA would be dedicated to its mission of protecting and preserving the tapestry of historic homes and structures in Old Towne, the largest Residential Historic District in California.
District One Councilmember Arianna Barrios was the special speaker at the January 16th meeting. Her father, Russ Barrios, was another of OTPA’s original founders.
“I grew up listening to neighbors gathered around our dining room table planning how to form the Old Town Preservation Association, and how to save Old Towne’s historic heritage,” Arianna reflected.
"They united the neighbors and stopped the demolition of our great homes. It shows you what a community can do when it gets together for a common cause.”
OTPA’s financial report was given by Treasurer Garrett Smith, who said the associationis in a very healthy situation with a cash reserve and a separate account for the Anne Siebert Scholarship Fund to underwrite Preservation internships. One is currently funded for the Office of the Mayor.
In his annual report, President Boice announced that OTPA's 9th Annual State of Old Towne Forum will be Thursday, April 17th in City Hall Council Chambers. The Forum will feature Mayor Dan Slater, District One Councilmember Arianna Barrios, Treasurer Garrett Smith, City Manager Tom Kisela, the new Police Chief, and Chapman University Vice President of Community Relations Alisa Driscoll.
The 2025 Nominating Committee report was given by chair Sandy Quinn. Members included Tony Trabucco and Garrett Smith.
